Pre-Op Instructions
Thank you for choosing Centrum Surgical Center. We understand that preparing for surgery can be stressful, and we’re here to support you every step of the way. Please take a moment to read these instructions carefully so we can help ensure your visit goes as smoothly as possible.
On the day of your surgery, please remember to bring your insurance card and a photo identification form. If a payment is required, we kindly ask that you have the appropriate form of payment ready at check-in. Additionally, a preoperative RN will call you within 24-72 hours to review the details of your visit. If you have not heard from a nurse and have clinical questions, please call (303) 290-0600, option four, during regular business hours.
Here are some general pre-operative instructions to help you prepare:
- Please complete your medical health history online as soon as possible before your surgery date at https://www.onemedicalpassport.com/?fid=295 . Please be sure to click “submit” once you’ve finished. Completing this early allows our preoperative nurses and anesthesia team to prepare for your arrival.
- If you will be receiving sedation or anesthesia, you will need assistance getting home. Please arrange for a responsible adult to take you home after your procedure, as you won’t be able to use rideshare services or drive yourself. It’s also essential that a responsible adult person stays with you for the first 24 hours after sedation or anesthesia. If you are not being sedated, you can drive yourself home.
- In preparation for your visit, we recommend leaving any unnecessary valuables home. Please remove all jewelry, body piercings, and makeup before surgery. If you have any forms from your physician’s office, don’t forget to bring them along. And if you wear glasses, contact lenses, or hearing aids, bringing a case to store them during surgery would be beneficial.
- On the day of your surgery, shower in the morning and refrain from wearing any makeup, lotions, or deodorant. Please wear comfortable clothing that is easy to wear. We understand how busy things can feel, so remember that you will need to arrive earlier than your scheduled surgery time per anesthesia guidelines. Our nurses will provide you with the specific times to stop eating and drinking if you are receiving sedation or anesthesia during your preop phone call. Please answer your phone, check your voicemail, and call with any questions. Following these guidelines is critical for the success of your surgery. Your surgery may be rescheduled if it is not followed.
- Medications: Your surgeon’s office may request that you hold certain medications before surgery. Please follow their recommendations in conjunction with your primary care doctor. If medications are needed in the morning before surgery, you may take them with a small sip of water. We advise against bringing medicines from home.
- To fully prepare you for success, please drink plenty of fluids before your surgery, particularly the day before your cut-off time for eating and drinking.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call our main number at (303) 290-0600, option four to speak with our preoperative team. We’re here to help and look forward to seeing you soon!
Sincerely,
The Centrum Surgery Team
